gasoline trimmer does not develop revolutions. Adjusting the carburetor
Reasons for loss of power in a brushcutter. Lawn mower does not develop full power
Anyone who owns a dacha or a plot of land, is well aware of the problems of combating excess vegetation. Now the grass trimmer has come to the rescue, which has successfully replaced the usual scythe in this field. This unit is very convenient in operation, but he, like any mechanism, because of the harsh working conditions or incorrect operation peculiar to fail. Situations when the grass trimmer does not pick up speed are quite common. To understand this problem, it is necessary to understand some aspects related to the functioning of the machine.
All grass trimmers are classified according to the type of power supply: gasoline or electricity (from the network or battery). It should be noted that gasoline mowers are superior to their electric and battery-powered counterparts in many respects. Despite the fact that they all perform similar functions, the difference in performance, maneuverability and efficiency is very noticeable. However, the general principle of operation of all types of manual mowers almost does not differ. the devices are equipped with engines (two- or four-stroke combustion engines or electric motors), which set in motion the cutting unit (spool with a fishing line or metal disc). All elements are fixed on a straight or curved boom, including a handle to control the trimmer, where the main buttons are located.
Since the problem of low RPM is more common to gasoline trimmers, more attention will be paid to them. So, the lawn trimmer is very comfortable in operation and unpretentious in maintenance. In this case, most of its faults are caused by the user’s ignorance of the elementary things that are written about in the manual. Therefore, before operating the machine, you must carefully review the manufacturer’s manual. In particular, to start the engine, it is necessary to perform the following sequential actions:
- switch on the ignition button;
- press the silicone button several times to pump up the gasoline;
- close the choke shutter again;
- set the throttle lever to the high rpm position;
- first make light jerks with the starter handle to feel the resistance of the engine, then yank sharply.
If the lawnmower starts, but stalls, you need to put the air damper in the middle position and try again. When the engine starts, you need to reduce the gas and open the air damper, as the grass trimmer functions only on the suction.
Important! The mode of operation of the grass trimmer depends on various environmental influences. In hot weather, unit should be given more time to cool down. When working in dense thickets or high vegetation, the engine also overheats heavily. You must take five-minute breaks every 15 to 20 minutes.
Grass trimmers are reliable and durable (with proper care, of course). The most frequent malfunctions occur due to contamination of design elements.
If the motor of your lawnmower does not start, does not pick up speed, does not reach the power you need or suddenly stops, the cause may be:
- Poor-quality fuel (fuel mixture), the case may be in long-term storage or failure to comply with the formulation of the mixture;
- grass winded on the line/blade head shaft;
- clogging of the air filter/muffler;
- carburetor imbalanced.
Causes and repair
I would like to share my experience in restoring the right power to the grass trimmer with an internal combustion engine.
Somehow first in June, I began to notice that my grass trimmer GT22GES (manufacturer Echo) began to lose its former power.
When mowing even a slight increase in power (higher grass and thicker) RPM tends to drop and the cutting performance is not what it used to be.
Earlier grass trimmer generally did not notice such obstacles. When I pushed sharply on the gas pedal without any load, revolutions were increasing slowly, seemingly grudgingly.
Took the User Guide to the trimmer grass, found the section on Troubleshooting. I found a suitable problem in the table, which is described approximately as follows: The engine does not accelerate well or fades.
Among the probable circumstances contamination of the air filter, fuel filter, fuel tank drain plug, spark plug, carburetor, clogged cooling system, clogged exhaust duct or muffler.
As it turns out, the list of likely circumstances is wide, so where to start?
At first I visually looked at the air filter, drain hole, air cooler, it all appeared to be in the usual condition.
Later decided to look at the end of the list, in other words check the exhaust system exhaust duct and muffler.
To do this I removed the spark plug lug, unscrewed three screws and removed the plastic muffler protective cap (on the drawing in the manual under 5). Then I unscrewed two long screws and carefully took off the muffler so as not to damage the two gaskets that are there.
My hunch was right. The exhaust duct of the engine cylinder (through which the exhaust fumes come out of the cylinder) was 30% to 40% clogged with sludge.
So this was the cause of my weed trimmer malfunction!
Careful not to destroy the surface of the piston and not to let any foreign goods (in other words, the same sludge) get into the cylinder, I 100% cleaned the exhaust port from the sludge, carefully blew out the channel with a pump.
As a tool I used a knife (but only on the edge of the channel), and in the depth of the channel a wood and plastic spatula of suitable size.
The muffler was quite unstained inside and outside.
After the assembly started trimmer for grass, a little warmed up and tried to mow the engine has earned like new, the power has increased markedly, grass is not really mowing, and chops (line for trimmer three mm).

It’s nice that the machine started working fine and doubly nice that I was able to find the problem and fix it myself.
It is possible that such a malfunction may appear in other models of trimmers, because the design of all of them approximately the same and all grass trimmers have the exhaust pipe and muffler.
Some tricks of working with the gasoline trimmer.
Come summer time, and the household plots habitually lawn mowers cluttered. A great tool, powerful and mobile. You can mow grass with a gasoline grass trimmer and get rid of dried out weeds. However, there are times when the lawnmower does not start, runs intermittently or does not develop full power. Not much work to be done here! And as they say, you pull the starter grip more than you mow.
It’s not just the old brushcutter that has had trouble starting up, but also the new one. What to do in this situation? There’s only one way out. take expert advice and benefit from their practical experience!
lawnmower doesn’t move fast enough.Another reason
The reason is very simple (watch the video)
If you have done the operations with the filter, but the work of the grass trimmer, powered by gasoline, has remained the same, gasoline trimmer does not gain momentum what to do?
Then you should try to remove the filter from the unit in order to provide the so-called “lightening” of the grass trimmer. Why the Chinese lawnmower does not develop speed, the reason Husqvarna. This should help.
The next and quite common problem when working with a gasoline trimmer is that it just stalls, and does not give any signs of life.
In this case, the problem may be as follows:
The last and most common cause of gasoline grass trimmer breakdown is that the cable, which is located in the carburetor department, simply slept.
Therefore, make sure in advance that it is well stretched, but not to the limit, otherwise with too much load on the gasoline grass trimmer, this small cable can crack and then you will definitely have to go to the service center, and then also throw a lot of money in the wind.
On the market there is a wide range of trimmers from different manufacturers. They are characterized by common reasons why the revolutions drop. Also, each unit is equipped with with the instruction manual. In it the appropriate section contains the necessary recommendations on the matter concerning the model used.
If in the process of self-troubleshooting a positive result was not achieved, it is better to ask for help from specialists. It is also necessary to involve professionals in solving the problem if you do not have a minimum of experience and skill in such matters so as not to cause damage. The most complex component is the engine. It should only be operated by experienced craftsmen. When the lawnmower is under under warranty , The best option is to contact a service center, where they will conduct diagnostics and repair the equipment.
Purchasing a lawn mower, you need to be prepared for the fact that, as in all other similar tools, it can also have breakdowns that will require repair.
But you should not run to a service center and pay big money to masters, convincing you of the presence of severe faults in the device.
Why does the lawnmower stop after starting??
After starting, the engine may shut down if the carburetor is not properly set or if it is razregulirovaniya. What are the signs to understand that the cause is really there? Very simply, by the vibrations that will be clearly felt when the lawnmower starts. Carry out the adjustment of the fuel supply with your own hands, doing everything that is written in the instruction manual of the tool.
The engine may stop if the fuel valve is clogged. The cause is eliminated by cleaning it. If the lawn mower starts and then suddenly stops, the fuel supply to the carburetor is obstructed. Loosen the valves on the carburetor to ensure a free flow of fuel to the carburetor in the right amount.
With excessive air suction can also stall the engine. Increase the engine speed, so that the air bubbles come out faster from the fuel system of the unit. Also be sure to check the integrity of the fuel intake hose. If there is any mechanical damage (cracks, punctures, etc.), the lawn mower may have malfunctioned.п.), replace the part.
Immediately after starting the engine
The machine may shut down immediately after starting if the carburettor is misadjusted or has not been properly adjusted. this causes Uneven fuel supply
The result is that the machine vibrates distinctly. To correct the problems, the carburetor is readjusted, acting according to the instructions to the mechanism.
Also, the engine stops when the clogged valve
, fuel hose is intact. In such cases, simply cleaning the carburettor is sufficient. If the mower starts and then stops immediately, it is possible that there is a problem with the fuel supply to the carburettor unit. To solve the problem helps to loosen the valve, which ensures the free circulation of the mixture in the system.
Stopping can also be caused by air supply
there is mechanical damage (holes, cracks) on the fuel intake hose. In this case it is necessary to rev up the drive to expel the air bubbles from the system more quickly.
Why the Jet Ski Does Not Revolve
The grass trimmer does not pick up speed, a very common problem and of course does not always have the usual solution.Here’s how to fix it:. If your chainsaw won’t pick up speed.
If the chainsaw in a minute after start-up is not able to gain momentum or stops when you pull the trigger, most likely, the carburetor or the engine crankcase is leaky. As in the previous case, the problem can be solved by checking and adjusting the carburetor.
If the chainsaw does not pick up speed and cuts out after it worked normally for about 5 minutes, the cause may be a defective fuel tank breather. The vacuum in the fuel tank when the tool is in operation doesn’t allow the engine to get enough fuel to work properly, so it will either stop or won’t start.
The cause of the chainsaw not picking up speed may be excessive soot in the muffler, which impedes the release of exhaust gases, thereby reducing power and engine speed.
If you want to check the tightness of the crankcase, but do not have a special tool, you can use the following test procedure.
- Remove side cover and guide bar from chain saw.
- Unscrew the spark plug and through the spark plug hole put a string with nots in the cylinder, thereby stopping the movement of the piston and crankshaft.
- You can use an old starter cord as a string with knots, tying knots on it every 3-5 cm.
- Unscrew the chain saw‘s drive sprocket.
- Remove the oil pump cover and the pump itself.
- Remove the starter motor from the chain saw.
- Unscrew and remove the flywheel.
- Remove the carburetor.
- With a syringe, through the hole under the carburetor in the cylinder, pour petrol into the crankcase, while watching the crankshaft oil seals. If gasoline will leak through them, it means that the glands have fallen into disrepair and they need to be replaced with new ones.
- Oil seals are best left to professionals.
