How to magnetize an electric screwdriver bit
A screwdriver with a magnetic tip is undoubtedly a good thing, but it can also be a nuisance or even a hindrance in some situations. For example, when working with electronics, a magnet can cause serious and irreparable damage to some parts.
How to : Magnetize a Screwdriver
And it is very stupid and inconvenient to be constantly juggling screwdrivers. That is why most craftsmen, who often have to wield a screwdriver, use a special device, a magnetizer. With it, you can quickly magnetize and demagnetize the tool without much manipulation.
Previously, such a service could produce in workshops, but now, with the advent of this device is no longer a question, how to magnetize a screwdriver at home.
Magnetizers are easy to design and use, which can change the corresponding parameter of metal objects. A huge plus of the device is that it does not require additional connection to the network, recharging. And the small size allows you to always have such a useful thing with you. And if we consider the design itself, the magnetizer consists of:
Each of these holes is responsible for a particular function, magnetizing, demagnetizing. Usually the slots are signed, but even if not, you can very quickly check the parameters of each compartment.
The working principle is incredibly simple: place the object in the desired hole, wait a little. These devices have differences between them in the size of the tool itself, the size of the cut. The second parameter depends on how big object is necessary to magnetize.
The price is not much different, the usual, although you can find more expensive models. Whether they are worth the money is up to everyone.
How to magnetize a screwdriver
Most likely, for any “real man” will not be a discovery that when working with screwdrivers and other small things, their one amazing property is manifested. This property sometimes verges on magic. they manage to hang on when they are not needed, and at the right moment, on the contrary, they fall.
It’s not so bad if they just fall down, because they tend to roll away somewhere and get lost. One, two, three. When the tenth one disappears from view, the working spirit disappears somewhere, as if the neighbor’s cow came and licked his tongue. And screwdrivers with magnetized tips help to avoid this. It is not necessary to rush to the store in search of this particular model, it is possible to magnetize any screwdriver, which is available in the household.
You can magnetize a screwdriver in two ways:
Methods of demagnetizing metal
There are several ways of demagnetizing metal structures. Devices are used depending on frequency of use, purpose, and power. Before you demagnetize metal at home, you need to understand the existing designs.
How to magnetize a screwdriver January 17, 2018
- An ordinary magnet of large size, the tool is held over it at a minimum distance, at the edge of the process of attraction. A magnet can be removed from an old speaker, most of which are round. The process is done by moving the product away from the structure, loosening it, the farther the tool is from the structure, the smaller the amplitude. The location of the axis on which there is no magnetic field, depends on the design of the product.
- frequent use will require an appliance operated at home from the mains. It is possible to make the device at home or buy it on the trade rows of radio components. The main component is a coil with wound wire connected to a transformer. Feeding AC current allows the element to be demagnetized, DC current the opposite.
There are many variations, sets for demagnetizing metals in production.
Tunnel devices include a coil that has a hole, connected to a mains.
Hole size may vary, depending on the purpose and dimensions of the parts to be processed. Multi-band magnets, driven by motion, whose rotation is speed-controlled, the impact and change in amplitude is made by pulling the part away from the housing.
Electromagnetizer operates from 220 or 380 volts, allows you to demagnetize an item for a certain time. Container mechanisms allow you to install the product to the device, which automatically creates the necessary environment.
Magnetic bit adapter with keyway
I saw this thing in one of the “50 coolest things from aliexpress” kind of sets, found a cheaper place, ordered it and am sharing it with you. The title picture explains in plain text what this thing is for. This adapter is not suitable for all drill bits, but only for the ones with a circular recess. It allows you to fix the adapter on the bit The product reached me in 2 and a half months. It comes in a standard sealed pouch with bubble wrap. Represents a round metal nozzle with a ring magnet on the outside A metal ball, as in screwdrivers, fixes the nozzle on the recess of the bit Retainer is removable Dimensions of the adapter: length 21.3 mm Inner diameters, despite the difference in external diameter, the same: 7.3 mm in the narrow part and in wide as much The necessary bit with a groove for this nozzle was included with an electric screwdriver PRACMANU Mounting nozzle quickly and easily
It has this position on the bit It sits with a small free travel
The magnet is strong enough. From a pile of self-tapping screws can pick up several at once Unfortunately, the self-tapping screw does not get into slots
You have to guide it and it does not work at the first time, because the bit is also magnetized by the adapter and the flat to it immediately sticks
But, if the metal item is in place, it holds there very firmly Even if you want, you can not shake it off the bit with one hand
So there is no need to hold a screw even if you screw it down vertically
I do not know if it speeds up the work, but it is useful when you have only one hand free at the stage of screwing (for example you hold on to something with the second hand) or if you have to screw something into some narrow place or cavity and it is not convenient to hold it with the second hand.
Magnetizer / demagnetizer screwdrivers / bits and other tools
Good day to all. Today’s review is dedicated to a very funny thing I bought on eBay. Magnetizer/Demagnetizer Magnetic Pick Up Tool Screwdriver Tips Screw or in Russian a magnetizer/demagnetizer for screwdrivers/screws, screws, self-tapping screws and other tools. Despite so complicated and not immediately understandable name the box costs just over 2 dollars and, looking ahead, I can say that it copes with its job very well. The first thought of buying such a device came to me during the assembly of my daughter’s toy after her repair. the location of the screw was extremely awkward and I could not put it in the right place. And due to the fact that his hat had a special pattern, to use a screwdriver with a magnetized tip I had no opportunity. In general, I had to suffer long and hard, but in the end the toy was assembled. Despite the joy of a small victory, the sediment, as they say, remained and somewhere deep in my subconscious, I realized that it cost me an incredible effort and the death of thousands (if not millions) of nerve cells. Well, I had to do something about it. At that time I did not know exactly what to do, but after I came across the culprit of this review, everything fell into place. In fact, I saw it in the “Hot Sale” on Aliexpress. There this gadget was sold at about 2.6, but as it turned out, this is far from the lowest price on the internet. A short search brought me to an eBay item for 2.17. that’s exactly what was ordered. After some correspondence with the seller, we agreed that he would send my package with the track. All conditions of the agreement were fulfilled, so if anyone is interested, the route of the parcel from China to Belarus can be seen here.
This magnetizer comes without any factory packing. I received it in a normal plastic bag.
What was surprising. after taking it out of the bag, the device did not give off any unpleasant odor. I can not say anything more or less objective about the quality of its manufacture because it is very difficult to estimate it. The case of the device is made of plastic which we do not have any complaints about. In some places the letters on the body are worn out, in some places the joints of the two halves of the adhesive is leaking. But in general it is ok, and this is a rare case where the quality of workmanship has absolutely no effect on the performance of the device
And its dimensions are 5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm, so it easily fits into any toolbox.
The device construction is extremely simple. in its lower part there is a rectangular hole marked “MAGNETIZER”. A metal object placed inside this hole gets into the magnetic fields, which gives it the ability to attract metal. At the top of the device there is an opening with one edge made like a ladder. It is marked as “DEMAGNETIZER”. As you have already guessed if you put here a metal object, endowed with an ability to attract metal elements to itself, it will lose it. By trial and error it was found that to achieve the best effect it is not enough just to put a metal object into this or that hole, you need to rotate it around its axis to magnetize/demagnetize it evenly.
The device interior is even simpler than the exterior, there are only two magnets
By the way, if you turn them upside down, the magnetizer loses its abilities. And yes, you should disassemble the case carefully, not like I did. my plastic guides are cracked
It is difficult to photograph the operation of the magnetizer, so I decided to capture it in a short video. In the beginning of the video demagnetize and magnetize the screwdriver with a magnetic tip, and in the second part of it endows the usual screwdriver ability to magnetize screws / bolts.
As you can see everything works and not bad at all. The demagnetizing process takes more time than the magnetizing, but it doesn’t make any difference to the device performance in general.
One can argue about the advisability of making such a purchase and the feasibility of this device in general, but I want to tell you that with magnetized screwdriver to screw in (insert into deep holes) screws much easier, and unscrewing them do not have to worry about what he will fall and get lost. a screw will be hanging on the tip of the screwdriver. In general, I am completely satisfied with the purchase. for not much money got a fun little toy that works, and does it quite well Well, whether it is needed in the household or not. that everyone decides for himself.
That’s probably all. Thank you for your time and attention.

It is hard to make a picture of the magnetizer work, so I decided to capture it in a short video. In the beginning of the roller we demagnetize and magnetize the screwdriver with magnetic tip and in its second part we give the usual screwdriver the ability to magnetize screws/bolts.
As you can see it works, and it’s not bad at all. The demagnetization process takes longer than the magnetization process, but it does not affect the performance of the device as a whole.
One can argue about the expediency of making such a purchase and the expediency of this device in general, but I want to tell you that with magnetized screwdriver to screw in (insert into deep holes) screws much easier, and unscrewing them do not have to worry about that it will fall and get lost. the screw will be hanging on the tip of the screwdriver. How to magnetize any tool
How to magnetize any tool, a simple instruction.
This is an old magnetic gripper which demagnetized long time ago. It hardly holds even a small screw. In this tutorial I will show you how easy it is to demagnetize an old magnet without reversing its polarity. By the way, you can magnetize practically any metal tool in the same way. It’s a hundred times more convenient to work with a screwdriver when it’s magnetic and there’s no need to hold screw with second hand.
Materials: Any copper wire with insulation electrical tape
Tools: Screwdriver with a cylindrical shank Magnetic COMPASS A DC power source, batteries or rechargeable batteries.
Wrap the insulated wire around the place where the magnet is. If you don’t have insulated wire, then enameled wire is fine too. I wound almost the full length of the grip shank just in case, although obviously the magnet itself is shorter than it. You can see how simple it is, I do everything by eye, I don’t count the turns of wire, and I decided to wind three layers.
I want to strengthen the magnet, so I have to demagnetize it to zero and then build up in reverse polarity. To find out the polarity of the magnet we can use the regular COMPASS, I positioned the COMPASS so that it was not in the north-south axis, then I brought the magnet closer to the compass, and it attracted the south pole of the magnet in the compass.
After that, you need to figure out which wire of the coil is the plus and which is the minus. To do this I removed the coil from the shank of the grip, and put it on a screwdriver of a slightly smaller diameter, so that the coil was easy to remove and put on, it should be a little bit of duct tape. By the way this is how you can magnetize the screwdriver itself. I made one wire long and the other short to not mess with the wires. Well, after I put the coil on the screwdriver, the only thing left is to bring it to the compass, and connect the wires to the battery in such a polarity that the screwdriver will attract the south pole of the magnet.
Next, I removed the coil from the screwdriver and returned it to the shank of the magnetic grip, so that the shorter wire was closer to the front end of the grip, as it was on the screwdriver, on the previous shag. I used two old flashlight batteries to power the coil and held the wire from the coil with my hand for a couple of minutes. It is enough time and 3 volt is also enough to magnetize the jaw sufficiently.
Checking the magnetic grip: holds better than new!
You will hardly need magnets for a rivet gun, but you can buy consumables, rivets 5 mm, as well as rivets of any other size, on our website.
The power of magnetism: how to magnetize almost everything from a screwdriver to a hammer
Everyone, who at least once used a magnetic screwdriver, knows how handy this thing. Magnetism helps prevent your screws from falling and losing. No more mysterious disappearances and missing parts! What’s more, the coolest thing about magnetism is that you don’t have to buy special screwdrivers, which cost more than regular screwdrivers. Did you know that you can magnetize any object if it has iron in it? The following will tell you how to do it.
Magnetizing/demagnetizing screwdrivers and other tools gizmo.
I will be brief. There’s not much to write about this thing, either. From time to time you need some screwdriver to be magnetic and some other the other way around, that’s why I bought this gizmo. This block is molded of plastic, inside are probably walled up magnets. It works simply, twiddled the screwdriver in a rectangular cutout. magnetized, twiddled in a stepped cutout. demagnetized. In use as a proletarian boulder, simple, primitive? But it’s reliable. Costs little money, so it’s hard to say, justified, much, someone a little, so the choice is yours. All the best.
intrigued ) I would like to know the physics/chemistry of the processes )))) but very magnetic? for a long time?
How To Magnetize Any Screw Bit (Fast and Easy)
Figure out the physics yourself. I’ll tell you about the device. There are two more variants of similar devices. One is quite nice: the tool in the window. magnetized, the tool in the upper open slot. demagnetized.
The second. the simplest: the tool in a round hole. is magnetized, wiggled the tool on a groove (narrow, between the ties). is demagnetized.
Reviewed gizmo set up exactly the same way.
That’s what’s inside:
The same two magnets. When a tool is INSTALLED between magnets, it is magnetized. When next to one. demagnetizes.
I have one of these lying around. I tried to magnetize bits with it, it does not magnetize very well. Probably depends on the composition of the steel.
Thanks for the review, but much more convenient and useful for the same buy small neodymium washers and put them on the screwdriver. Holds. zhezhety, do not tear off!
