A properly tuned ignition system of a motor-block is able to create a spark in the right place and at the right time. The magneto cap is responsible for distributing the spark that is formed, and the lower part of the magneto cap is responsible for interrupting the spark. In order for the ignition system to work according to this principle, it must be adjusted.

Installation of the ignition is performed in the following order:

  • To begin with, it is necessary to check the operation of the flywheel available in the engine until the contacts located inside the magneto open;
  • After that, it is necessary to measure the distance between the “anvil” and the “hammer” built into the ignition system;
  • Next, it will be necessary to turn the flywheel until the piston is compressed;
  • Once the flywheel has reached its highest point, it must be turned again. As a result, a one-time knock will be heard, indicating the operation of the overrunning clutch in the structure;
  • The flywheel will then need to be turned counterclockwise so that the second mark on it converges with the mark located on the housing;
  • The next step is to adjust the distance between the breaker contact and the adjacent cam. The minimum for proper operation of the ignition system will be a gap of 0.25 mm between the parts, and the maximum is 0.35 mm;

If the retainer does not match the hole in the flywheel, make adjustments by changing the position of the spline flange relative to the fuel pump drive pinion, do the following. remove the hatch cover from the distribution cover, bend the lock washers and unscrew the two bolts fixing the bar, remove the bar;. align the retainer with the hole in the flywheel;. using a key, turn the fuel pump shaft and the slotted flange clockwise by the nut until the fuel starts to rise in the glass tube;

Reinstall the high-pressure tube and screw the retainer into the rear plate hole.

Tighten the slotted flange fastening bolts with lock washers, install the manhole cover in place and adjust axial clearance of the fuel pump drive pinion. When adjusting the axial clearance, screw the adjustment bolt in the hatch cover as far as it will go into the bar, then unscrew 1/3-1/2 turns and secure with a locknut.

In order to avoid infringement of fuel pump starting moment when removing it from the engine, do not loosen bolts of fixing the bar and spline flange to the drive pinion.

Important! The spark plugs should be changed regularly, in particular when starting after a period of inactivity or at high levels of operation. A standard spark plug change is done every three months.
