From time to time a single-axle tractor needs to adjust the ignition system. Untimely adjustment of this assembly will lead to accelerated wear of other, no less important mechanisms of the agricultural machine. In order to be able to adjust the ignition system on a diesel scooter and its gasoline counterpart, it is necessary to study the scheme of construction of this unit.
A properly tuned ignition system of a motor-block is able to create a spark in the right place and at the right time. The magneto cap is responsible for distributing the spark that is formed, and the lower part of the magneto cap is responsible for interrupting the spark. In order for the ignition system to work according to this principle, it must be adjusted.
Installation of the ignition is performed in the following order:
- To begin with, it is necessary to check the operation of the flywheel available in the engine until the contacts located inside the magneto open;
- After that, it is necessary to measure the distance between the “anvil” and the “hammer” built into the ignition system;
- Next, it will be necessary to turn the flywheel until the piston is compressed;
- Once the flywheel has reached its highest point, it must be turned again. As a result, a one-time knock will be heard, indicating the operation of the overrunning clutch in the structure;
- The flywheel will then need to be turned counterclockwise so that the second mark on it converges with the mark located on the housing;
- The next step is to adjust the distance between the breaker contact and the adjacent cam. The minimum for proper operation of the ignition system will be a gap of 0.25 mm between the parts, and the maximum is 0.35 mm;

e) unscrew the retainer from the threaded hole of the rear plate and insert it with the uncut end into the same hole until it stops in the flywheel. At the same time retainer should coincide with a hole in the flywheel (it means that the piston of the first engine cylinder is set at the position corresponding to 26 ° before TDC).
If the retainer does not match the hole in the flywheel, make adjustments by changing the position of the spline flange relative to the fuel pump drive pinion, do the following. remove the hatch cover from the distribution cover, bend the lock washers and unscrew the two bolts fixing the bar, remove the bar;. align the retainer with the hole in the flywheel;. using a key, turn the fuel pump shaft and the slotted flange clockwise by the nut until the fuel starts to rise in the glass tube;
After fixing the slotted flange check again the moment of fuel supply start performing the operations as per c, d, e in sequence.
Reinstall the high-pressure tube and screw the retainer into the rear plate hole.
Tighten the slotted flange fastening bolts with lock washers, install the manhole cover in place and adjust axial clearance of the fuel pump drive pinion. When adjusting the axial clearance, screw the adjustment bolt in the hatch cover as far as it will go into the bar, then unscrew 1/3-1/2 turns and secure with a locknut.
In order to avoid infringement of fuel pump starting moment when removing it from the engine, do not loosen bolts of fixing the bar and spline flange to the drive pinion.
Check the angle of the beginning of fuel supply to the engine also at replacement and after repair of the fuel pump.

Then turn on ignition and twist pump pulley with key (timing belt is removed from pump) until fuel starts to come in tube (we need its level in the tube). Then slowly, with small motions turn the pulley and carefully watch the fuel level in the tube, as soon as the level is rustling, it means that the fuel begins to arrive to the injector of the first cylinder and, having stopped further rotation of the pulley, put a mark on it. Next, we align the crankshaft, camshaft and now the HPF at the very same mark that we identified. accurately set the injection timing by rotating the pump, if it was removed and if you only took off the belt, and before the injection timing was aligned, then you do not need to touch the HPV.To avoid looking for the marks and catch the injection timing after the engine repair, set the crankshaft on the mark and paint your marks or trace the factory ones before removing the timing belt. Problems with deviation of the injection angle

How to set the injection timing on a diesel

And you learned that you need special tools for this, namely: a plank to fix the camshaft, a roller to fix the pulley tvd and micrometer clock type indicator for setting the moment of injection. And these devices are really necessary. But there is a “but”, we do not have them at the moment, and the engine needs to start.So, how do we install the timing belt and the injection torque, if you don’t have a device?First we need to align the timing gear. Let’s start with the camshaft.The camshaft is turned so that the cams of the first cylinder look up, and the slot on the back side of the face of the camshaft should be parallel to the body of the cylinder head.
Then we set the first cylinder piston at TDC, to do this we align the mark (0) on the crankshaft flywheel with the mark in the window of the gearbox. If there is no gearbox, the distance between the bolt holes (above) is divided by half, put a mark on the block, it will be TDC. Align (0) with this mark.
Next is the tv.To install the fuel pump at the time of injection of the first injector, we need to align the smallest hole in the gear of the fuel pump with the hole in the bracket of the fuel pump.
They can not be precisely aligned because of the coupling spring in the housing of the fuel injection valve. So the pulley will go counterclockwise by a tooth. Next, align the injection torque of the fuel pump by aligning the marks on the fuel pump and its pinion.
Align the marks as follows, all timing marks should stay in their places. the marks are aligned by moving the fuel pump housing and the pinion stays in its place. After that, tighten the gear. Then turn on ignition and twist the pump pulley with a wrench (timing belt is removed from the pump) until fuel appears in the tube (we need its level in the tube).
Then slowly, with small movements turn the pulley and carefully watch the fuel level in the tube, as soon as the level rustled, it means that the fuel began to flow to the injector of the first cylinder and, having stopped further rotation of the pulley, put a mark on it.
Then we align the crankshaft, camshaft and now the HPF at the very same mark that we have determined.
accurately set the injection torque is necessary to rotate the pump, but this is if it was removed, and if you only took off the belt, and before the injection torque was set, then do not touch the HPF.

No spark: how to eliminate the problem
All the components of the ignition system must be in good working order for ignition to work. Lack of spark is considered the most common problem. Among the various options are two of the most common. a fouling formed, or the candle is not serviceable.
There can be several reasons for the lack of spark plug ignition
The first action is to unscrew the spark plug. After that it is required to inspect it, including the electrodes of the side and center type. If there is fouling, then in addition to cleaning, it is necessary to check the entire fuel system of the motoblock. Also a very common problem is the use of wrong oil and fuel, resulting in fouling and clogging of the spark plug.
The gasoline engines can use either 92 or 80 gasoline. The main point is to use a quality and proper oil.
Some tillers and tractors do not require any oils, but if you work in all seasons it is a good idea to use seasonal oil. For example, 4TD STANDARD SAE 30 for summer and 4TD ULTRA SAE 5W-30 for winter.
Important! If fouled, the entire fuel system is checked for leaks and disruption of the fuel hoses.
The spark plug for the motoblock should also be in the category of quality and recommended for this model. Please consult your operator’s manual for information on the most suitable oil.
A step-by-step procedure if there is no spark:
- unscrew and clean;
- For a complete cleaning, heating is used, after which all the soot from dried fuel is scraped off;
- The tip is put on the upper section of the spark plug;
- The spark plug is brought to the body of the engine, taking into account the distance to the electrode of 1 mm;
- A second hand is required to start the motor.
If the spark did not appear, you will need to adjust the distance between the side and center electrodes. The thin blade should fit snugly between them. If it is necessary to move the electrode, it is necessary to tap gently on the back side until it is mixed. The spark plug is also checked afterwards.
Important! The spark plugs should be changed regularly, in particular when starting after a period of inactivity or at high levels of operation. A standard spark plug change is done every three months.
If the spark plug is serviceable, the lack of spark may be due to the ignition coil on the motorblock, magneto or faulty wiring.
Note that the spark plug is checked first, after which the other mechanisms and elements of the system will be inspected and adjusted. Also for any checks of motoblock performance or ignition alignment only consistently working and serviceable spark plugs are used.
