Hello dear readers of my blog ZIL. 130. 431410. Today we will talk about how to install a compressor on a diesel engine ZIL-130 d-240.The compressor is source of compressed air for the pneumatic actuator of the car braking systems, as well as to supply other consumers.


To begin with, we remove the original compressor from the engine d-240. We are left with an open hatch with a drive and a gear. At the old place of the compressor we need to install the metal plate. This will be a platform for the Zilov compressor. We make the plate from iron with a thickness of 0.8-1 cm size (24×19) cm.fig. 1

We make holes in the plate for stud bolts, cut them and put bolts. On these studs we will fix our plate. Further we fix a plate, put the compressor on top and mark holes for pins to fix the compressor. Drilling, tapping, studding. Before final installing the plate, make a gasket under it. Let’s make it out of paronite. Mark it, cut it, preferably with sealant on both sides. We have installed the plate, tightened the nuts and put the compressor from above, it is now on the studs, like on a skid, moves left and right to tension the belt. photo

Oil inlet and drain

Take oil approach from engine block on the left side under the compressor as shown on the photo and bring it to the compressor on the crankshaft. All this is connected by a hose. We take compressor drain from compressor casing and run hose up to oil filler neck. In a cover we drill a hole, put connector for a hose and put on hose as shown on photo. After everything is assembled and checked, it is possible to test the compressor in operation.

To disassemble the steering mechanism­The steering unit should be removed from the vehicle and then:1) Unscrew nut 37 (see Fig. Fig. 52) and remove with a puller bipod (bipod chipping can cause damage to parts);2) unscrew the plug with a magnet and drain the oil, for more complete drainage turn the steering wheel 23 times from stop to stop;3) Disconnect the hoses, drain the remaining oil in the pump;4) Disconnect the driveshaft, removing the cotter pin, unscrewing nut wedge 8 (see “Inspection of the tightening of the stop ball bearings. Figure. 5) Remove the steering gear housing together with the six bolts that hold the steering gear housing to the chassis;6) Thoroughly clean and wash the outside surface of the steering gear;7) Drain the remaining oil by turning the steering gear with the valve down and rotating the bolt 23 times from one extreme position to the other.To disassemble and inspect the steering mechanism, proceed as follows.1. Remove the side cover together with the bipod shaft by removing the seven bolts. When taking out the bipod shaft you must grind its slotted end and be careful not to damage the oil seal and the O-ring.2. Remove the top cover by loosening the four bolts and being careful not to damage the packing case and o-ring­ring.3. Remove the control valve housing together with the screw, the rack piston and the intermediate cover by removing the six screws.4. Remove the bottom cover by removing the six bolts.5. Check tightness of the nut of thrust ball bearings. Check the axial displacement of the adjusting screw 30 (see )­6. The torque required to rotate the control valve body relative to the screw must be 0.60.85 N • m (68.5 kgfm).6. In case of non-compliance with the p. 5 Adjust the nut tightening or if the ball bearings are damaged, replace them. If the runner grooves of the nut or screw are damaged, replace them.12. If the set (nut and bolt with balls) is replaced, the parts must not be interchanged during assembly, since they are individually matched at the factory.13. In case of replacement for larger size only take balls­When assembling the steering mechanism, observe the following:. parts of the same size group (diversity of no more than 0.002 mm). Do not use ball ends, rags, or any other rags that leave lint on the parts­lead to balls breakage and jamming of the steering mechanism.14. After replacing the balls, the nut must be turned in the medium­of the screw under the torque of 0,30,8 N • m (38 kgf • the screws should be loose around the edges and the seat should be at an angle of at least 1 m (38 kgf).

Assembly of steering mechanism of ZIL-130

When assembling the steering mechanism, the following must be observed­the following conditions.1. All parts must be thoroughly washed and dried before assembly. Do not use ends, rags, which leave threads, lint, etc. on the parts for wiping. п.2. All rubber seals must be inspected and replaced if necessary.3. The tightening torque shall be 2128 N • m (2.1 2.8 kgf • (m) for M8 bolts and 3,542 N • m (3.54.2 kgfcm) for the bolt­bolts M10.4. Piston rings must be free to move in the grooves of the piston rail.5. From one end position to the other the bipartite shaft must be turned with a maximum torque of 80 N • m (8 kgf • м). Tighten the bipod shaft nut to a torque of 360-400 N • m (3640 kgf • м).

Disassembly procedure of power steering pump of ZIL-130

Before disassembly the pump must be removed from the vehicle by first draining the oil, cleaning and flushing the outside surface. Order to deactivate­The following is the general procedure for removing and inspecting the pump.1. Remove reservoir cap and filters.2. Remove the reservoir by unscrewing four bolts.3. Position the pump so that the pump shaft is oriented vertically­Remove the pulley at the bottom, and remove the pump cover by loosening the four bolts. When removing the cover, keep the valve from falling out.4. Mark the position of the spreading disc in relation to the stator and remove it from the pins.5. Only if absolutely necessary, remove pulley, circlip and shaft together with front bearing.8. Check that the by-pass valve can be moved easily in the bonnet­The pump must be replaced as a complete unit and must be inspected for nicks or wear.Valve and pump cover are individually matched at the factory, so do not disassemble if necessary.If necessary, deburr or replace complete parts.9. Check seat fastening 15 (see Section 5.2.2. Figure. 55) Safety relief valve; retighten if necessary.10. Check all component passages for debris and clean passages.11. Check the steering link rod adjustment and steering control for scoring or wear on the end faces of the auxiliary end faces­5065 N rotor, housing and spreader disc. In case of insignificant­If there is any signs of galling or wear, lapping these surfaces on the plate and then rinsing them thoroughly.12. Check whether the blades move freely in the rotor grooves and are not excessively worn.

Assembly of power steering pump ZIL-130

Assemble the pump in the following order.1. Install the stator, rotor and vanes, and shimrodisc in accordance with the disassembly marks and rotation direction arrow. Check that the chamfer of the slotted section of the rotor blades is not excessively worn­The rotor shaft must face the pump casing.2. Install cover with bypass valve. Valve seat hex should be facing in toward the inside of the bore.3. Tightening torque of the bolts fixing the tank should be 68 N • m (0,60,8 kgf • м).4. Pump pulley nut tightening torque should be­Check that the slot chamfer of the slotted holes in the rotor and the housing is not excessively worn • m (56.5 kgf • м),5. Pump shaft must rotate freely without catching.

A special tool is installed to check the pressure developed by the pump. Have a pressure gauge with a scale of up to 8000 kPa (80 kgf/cm2) and a valve that closes the oil supply to the hydraulic­to the power steering unit.

If the pressure does not increase, the pump is defective.If the pressure when the valve is closed is greater than the pressure when the valve is open, but less than 6000 kPa (60 kgf/cm2), the fault is­on both units. Do not hold valve closed for more than 15 seconds­The vehicle has hydraulic power steering and the steering wheel is turn to the stop. ZIL-130 steering actuator

The steering linkage consists of a longitudinal and transverse steering rod.The steering link rod is tubular, with adjustable ball joints­with the hinges. Piston-type, two-section air compressor 130-3509015 (Fig. 1) presses air into pneumatic system of machine (T-150, ZIL-130, K-700). Mounted on engine and driven from engine crankshaft by V-belt drive. The air inlet to the compressor cylinders is through the inlet slotted valves (pos. 22) from air filter. Then air is compressed by pistons (pos. 11) and is displaced into the pneumatic system through the discharge valves (pos. 15), which are located in the cylinder head.

If air pressure in the pneumatic system exceeds 7.65 kgf/cm2, then the pressure regulator is actuated. The air is supplied to the unloader channel (pos. 25) by raising the rams (pos. 31) of intake valves (pos. 22) and opening inlet valves of two cylinders. As a result, there is free air movement through the cylinders and air supply to the pneumatic system is stopped. When system air pressure drops to 6.0 kgf/cm2, air is vented from under the rams by the pressure regulator to the atmosphere. Plungers under the influence of the springs fall, the inlet valves return to their places, and the compressor pumps air into the pneumosystem.

The rubbing surfaces of the T-150, ZIL-130, K-700 compressor are supplied with oil from the oil gallery through a pipe to the rear cover (pos. 18) of the crankcase (pos. 1). If the compressor begins to operate with a knocking sound that is caused by excessive clearance between the crankshaft journals and bearings, the connecting rod bearing shells should be replaced.

When the compressor is running, it may overheat due to insufficient oil supply, as well as clogged air ducts. If there is insufficient pressure in the system provided by the compressor, it is necessary to check the condition of pipelines, their connections, as well as to check for leaks valves.
