How to assemble properly a cutter on a single axle tractor

A power tiller is a piece of equipment, without which you can not do without in agriculture. It is intended for agricultural works. To assemble the blades on the cultivator and prepare it for tilling the land, you need to do some.

First, it is necessary to get acquainted with the cultivator, for which the cutter will be made. We need to study its design. This will save time and assemble the finished unit. It will be most convenient to assemble either saber-shaped blades or goosenecks.

Studying the design of a power tiller, it is necessary to pay attention to:

  • The power of the cultivator;
  • The top frame of the power tiller, on which the fuel tank and engine are located. They will be attached to adapted brackets;
  • Equipping a Moto-block or engine with a clutch and a gearbox.

Cultivator consists of such elements:

  • Short, rotary axle;
  • Rotor axes of varying length, assembled from two parts;
  • A “finger” with a clamp;
  • Blades (right and left);
  • Bolts and other parts to secure the entire structure.

The assembly of the cultivator cutters is as follows. A total of 24 blades are installed. The scheme consists of two blocks of 12 blades each. Each unit uses 3 dedicated nodes of 4 blades. They are mounted strictly at an angle of 90 degrees. To create one blade, a sheet of steel with a thickness of no more than 5 millimeters is taken.

To make the stands, a steel angle of 63×40 millimeters is taken. The blades are attached to the stand, and the other end is welded to the flange. So it is possible to connect 4 blades in one unit. Then the whole installation is bolted in place.

If you follow these instructions, you get a solid and reliable construction, which can easily withstand most of the loads. For regular use of equipment, it is recommended to resort to factory models, rather than homemade knives. This contributes to productive operation of the unit without failures and problems.


Another popular variety of tiller for a motor-block is “virgin”, which is in great demand due to its spiral shape. The distinctive feature of this type is its one-piece construction, which allows it to cope without problems even with enormous loads.

The main disadvantage is the slow work, as well as the fact that in the process of tillage the soil is pushed out, resulting sometimes in small holes.

As for the advantages, there are a huge number, among which the following can be highlighted:

  • Unlike other varieties of tillers for power tillers copes well with virgin soil;
  • It is characterized by an impressive cultivation depth;
  • Allows high-quality processing of the soil;
  • Features a monolithic construction, which is a sign of reliability, strength and durability.

Cutter types

The attachment consists of four curved blades. “petals”. mounted on a shaft. Most of them are of the directional type: when assembling it is necessary to consider the direction of movement. blades are usually bent on both sides, except for those at the ends of the shaft. There are models in which all the “petals” are bent only towards the gearbox: this prevents crop damage when ripping. This, however, reduces the working width.

The elements are made of pressed steel. for the lightest machines. and of steel strip, often forged. The latter variant is the sturdiest. The tiller is usually a separate piece, but there are also models in which two tillers are attached to a single shaft.

  • Sharpened. it is easier for the ‘petal’ to dig into the ground and prevent adhesion. Correspondingly, the engine load and fuel consumption are reduced. On the other hand, the sharp blades cut the roots of weeds, some of them remain in the ground and sprout again. Sharpened cutters should be used with great care.
  • with a semi-circular edge. safer, but more resistance during ripping, more often gets stuck. This element removes weeds more effectively, because it does not cut, but winds up the root and pulls it out of the soil.

  • rivets. the element cannot be disassembled. The difficulty is not so much in storage as in transportation;
