Oil to gasoline ratio for the Husqvarna chainsaw

Gasoline and Oil Proportion for Husqvarna chainsaws

As mentioned above, gasoline and oil should be diluted in a specially prepared container. Don’t do it in the gas tank. The latter technique will cause some of the oil to get into the carburetor. As a result, you will have to disassemble the engine and wash it. Standard dilution proportions are 50:1 and 40:1. Such a mixture will not interfere with the combustion of gasoline in the gas tank and improve the lubrication of the rubbing parts of the mechanism. When running-in a new tool, it is desirable to add lubricant twenty percent more. Diluting with more oil is recommended in hotter climates.

Many owners will be interested in information about how to dilute gasoline with oil, if there is no measuring container. A 20cc medicine syringe will work for it. Although most often measuring containers are included with chain saws.

Before you dilute the fuel you must clean and degrease the neck of the gasoline tank. It is advisable to pour it through a filter. Any rag will be a filter

After use, it is necessary to pour out the remaining mixture and dispose of it. Remember, it is better to overfill than underfill. What happens if you do not take into account the recommendations, read below.

If you do not act according to the instructions, you may cause the tool to become inoperative. For example, if you don’t dilute the fuel, then soot will form more often, the necessary lubrication of the pistons will not happen, resulting in a rise in the temperature in the engine. And this will cause the pistons to break. Or the saw’s owner will inhale toxic fumes in large quantities during all the work. It’s going to cause health problems, it’s going to break the tool.

If you use low-quality lubricant and fuel, they can also lead to engine failure. It is not recommended to dilute motor oil made for cars. You need to buy fuel with a high octane rating.

How to prepare and store the fuel mix for a chain saw

The main thing to follow when preparing the fuel mixture is the recommendations of the tool manufacturers. They are based on long-term laboratory tests and are designed so as to maximize performance while minimizing the chance of breakdowns.

The peculiarity of operation of all two-stroke engines, which are used in gasolinepowered tools, is that oil to reduce the friction of the parts does not come separately, but directly with the fuel. Therefore, the fuel mixture should not only consist of gasoline, but also have a small admixture of oil. Depending on the speed of the engine, the proportions of the constituent substances in the mixture can vary within quite wide limits:

32:1 mixture chart for adding oil to a chainsaw.

  • For engines with a low speed of about 5000 rpm the optimal oil to gasoline ratio is 1:25;
  • gasoline-powered tools running at up to 12,000 rpm require a mixture whose mixing ratio varies from 1:40 to 1:50.

What properties does the oil have to have? First of all, it must burn off completely when the engine is running and not produce a deposit. Synthetic oils meet these requirements. unlike mineral oil, it produces a minimum amount of ash during combustion and ideally no residue at all. The fuel in which the oil has already been dissolved is usually tinted blue or green by the manufacturer so that it can be easily identified.

Never use oil that is designed for four-stroke engines! When it burns, it produces a large number of byproducts which quickly become clogged and damage the engine. Always read the information on the package when you buy it. Most manufacturers specify what the oil is for: look for “two-stroke engine oil” or “2 stroke oil. High-quality synthetic oil has the following properties:

  • It is perfectly soluble in gasoline;
  • thoroughly and completely lubricates all parts, prevents corrosion and does not freeze when working in the cold season;
  • flows well, which is especially important for engines with separate oil supply.

It is not recommended to use AI-95 gasoline to fuel the chain saw.

A separate topic is the choice of gasoline for your chainsaw. For older models of this tool, which were produced during the Soviet era, it is acceptable to use gasoline brands AI-76 and AI-80, while modern tools are more demanding to fuel quality. The most popular brand of fuel used to fuel chainsaws. AI-92.

It is not recommended to use gasoline AI-95, as it is the same as 92, but with the addition of various additives that increase the octane number. First of all, when such fuel burns, it causes a characteristic buildup on the spark plugs, and secondly, additives simply evaporate from the gasoline over time.

Prepare fuel mixture in a small metal canister or other container. Never use plastic containers, because they may dissolve in petrol and change its chemical composition. Pour the required amount of oil into the container, then add about half of the total volume of gasoline. Stir the mixture thoroughly until the oil is completely dissolved, and then add the remaining gasoline.

Although there are no particular changes with the mixture over time, it is not recommended to store it for too long. To avoid clogging the carburetor, pour the fuel into the canister with a tightly closing lid after use.

What is the exact quantity of lubricant required to prepare the combustible mixture required for the normal operation of a two-stroke internal combustion gasoline engine?? Buyers will find this information in the product’s instruction manuals enclosed. But the documentation often gets lost among the papers. In this connection it is not superfluous to be reminded. the producers use transmission lubricant for mixing with petrol. The Swedish company is known on all continents of the world for its reliable products. Husqvarna chain saw oil is used strictly as recommended by the manufacturer.

Depending on how much power is required from the units, choose the appropriate component dilution:

You dilute 40 to 50 parts of oil in one liter of fuel. These are the ideal proportions of gasoline and oil.

We inform you by the way. only unleaded gasoline of AI-92 or AI-95 brands is used. Ethylated combustible product is considered an unfortunate choice for the ICE because it shortens the operating life of the engine.

Husqvarna HP

The brand structure of the Swedish manufacturer Husqvarna HP includes a company that produces mechanized hand tools and lubricants for them, effective chemical additives.

The manufacturer for Partner chainsaws developed the original ratio of fuel to oil for two-stroke power units:

Ratio of mixing of fuel consistency is derived by the standard formula 1:50. It is a constant. That is 20 milliliters per 1 liter of AI-92.

There are moments of non-compliance with the standard approach to dilution with the company’s own lubricating product. This is when the engine is in the running-in phase. It is allowed for the engine to mix the fuel mixture in the value 1:40.

ROLF Garden 2T chain saw oil

The oil is produced on a synthetic basis, which ensures the highest quality. That’s why the ROLF Garden 2T has low smoke emission, burns completely and with very low carbon footprint. At the same time it protects the engine reliably against wear and tear, i.e. к. has a balanced additive package. The ROLF Garden 2T prevents the quick formation of soot and incomplete oil residues in the exhaust silencer, which in turn reduces the chain saw‘s power output.

The oil was developed specifically for garden equipment, where the main method of lubrication is a ready-to-use fuel mixture. ROLF Garden 2T was developed with this in mind and gives excellent stability when mixed with petrol. Ready-to-use composition excludes segregation during storage and clogging of carburetor channels. The oil does not lower the octane rating of petrol so there is no risk of detonation under load.

Thanks to its low freezing point ROLF Garden 2T is also perfectly suited for winter work, which preserves the efficiency of the engine lubrication with the fuel mixture. Oil burns well in engine, reduces risk of spark plug failures. Thus, the amount of maintenance required for the chainsaw can be minimized.

Oil quality is confirmed by approvals from leading chainsaw manufacturers. Besides that ROLF Lubricants GmbH offers simple and effective protection system against fakes: all products of the company are packaged only in tin containers. As practice shows, counterfeit in such conditions is practically not found on the market: it is more profitable for counterfeit manufacturers to pack in plastic.

Types of oil

Mineral oil is suitable for use in warm seasons. This is due to the fact that it has a higher viscosity. These oils you can buy from 113 / l (TNK 2T).

Synthetic oil has better fluidity, can also be used in winter conditions at low temperatures, i.e. all year round. mostly used for industrial chainsaws. This type is thermally stable and chemically stable. Their price starts from 135 p./0.2 l (Zubr-Expert).

Semi-synthetic oils can be used if the tool is not under heavy load for year-round use. They include as a base component mineral types, to which synthetic ingredients are added. The cost of these oils ranges from 185 p./0,946 l (Resoil Ultra 2T).

Manufacturers of oils are painted in different colors, so you can control how to dilute gasoline for a chainsaw.

Tare capacity should be selected based on how the tool will be used. With infrequent action of the chainsaw, 0.8-1 liters of volume per season is enough. In the case of daily multi-hour use, however, the 5-liter canisters should be oriented.

Instructions for filling the chainsaw with fuel

Knowing the ratios for preparing the petrol-oil mixture, you can start filling it up. The instructions for filling the tank are as follows:

  • Prepare mixture to begin with. After mixing the two main components you need to stir them up
  • Place the tool on a clean, level surface. Clean or blow out sawdust, dust, and contaminants before unscrewing the gasoline tank cap
  • The filler neck must point upwards
  • Install a small watering can in the throat, then pour the fuel
  • Control the filling process, because the volume of the tank is small, so it fills quickly
  • Fill not up to full, because when you close the lid of the tank, the remaining fuel will spill out
  • After filling the tank with fuel, add the chain lubricant as soon as possible
  • Fuel and chain lubricant consumption are about the same, so you should fill both tanks at the same time
  • After refueling you can start the engine

It is better to start the engine not in the same place where you filled it up, but move 2-3 meters away. The machine is now ready for use, and you can start it up. Read here how to start the chain saw engine (link).

Where and how to fill up the oil

There is a special container for filling the oil in the chainsaw. The size of the reservoir is calculated on the basis of the dimensions of the chain saw’s gas tank. It is recommended to fill the oil tank at the same time as you fill the fuel tank. This avoids breaks in operation to refill the lubricant. After filling the material give the tool to work for 5-10 seconds without load. During this period the oil will spread evenly over the whole chain.

Older models have no oil system. Lubricate the chain by dipping it into a reservoir of oil. You may also use a grease gun or a brush. In such cases, it is advisable to use an aerosol form of packing.

Start your work with the tool by checking the oil supply to the chain. Summer grease becomes thicker at low temperatures, which reduces the lubricating power of the product. In cold conditions it is therefore necessary to fill up the saw with winter lubricant. To reduce the viscosity of the summer oil, you may use dehydrated kerosene. It is diluted at a ratio of 1:4.

Adding a different brand of oil to a reservoir with residual oil from the same manufacturer is permitted, but only if the mixture is used immediately. Do not leave it in the reservoir for a long period of time.

If the chain is not lubricated enough, it starts to smell unpleasant and smoke when you cut the wood. Overheating causes the metal to expand which causes the chain to get caught in the groove. That’s why the lubricant supply is checked at regular intervals.
