When the elevator is not in operation, its stop is lowered to the zero position, and almost all of the fluid is in the oil reservoir. In order for the stop to be pushed upward, the fluid must move from its compartment into the cylinder block and be under the piston collar. The pump and the 2 valves (suction and discharge) carry out the oil transfer operation.

When the pump piston rises, a vacuum is produced in the pump chamber, sucking liquid from the oil reservoir through a suitable valve. When the piston is lowered, on the contrary, pressure is created pushing oil out of the chamber through the discharge valve. The fluid cannot leak back because the ball on the spring (valve), allows it to flow only in one direction and when pressurized, blocks the round hole, pressing tightly against it. In this way, the volume of liquid in the working cylinder is gradually increased, pushing out the piston and raising the stop with the load.

When the oil jack has completed its task, the piston must be lowered, moving the fluid back into the original compartment. This task is efficiently carried out by the closing valve, whose turn connects the working cylinder and the oil reservoir and allows the pressurized oil to flow from the former to the latter. This is a simple principle, according to which the classic hydraulic jack works.

When the lever is pulled up, the stop valve (5) closes and the liquid is drawn into the pump cavity from the oil storage tank (6) by the pressure of the suction valve (4). The main piston (1) is raised by pumping the liquid from the storage tank (6) into the working chamber (7).
