Your Partner 350 chain saw starts and stops
Repair a Partner 350 chainsaw with your own hands. Troubleshooting
One of the saw’s main features, mentioned by its users, is its durability with a minimum of failures. And yet they happen. To determine why the saw stopped working, you need to make an elementary diagnosis. If the saw won’t start, then:
First you should check the presence of the spark: unscrewing the plug, connecting it to the high-voltage wire and putting it on the cylinder, pull the starter. If the spark is there, clean and adjust the gap on the spark plug (0.5. 0.65 mm). If you don’t have it, you need to replace either the flywheel or the coil (magneto). In addition, the spark plug itself may fail or break the high-voltage wire.
The next step is to check the fuel supply. To do this, disconnect the feed hose from the carburetor and check its presence. No spark could mean the fuel filter or fuel system is clogged. Also, the carburetor itself may be clogged.
If you have no experience in its repair and cleaning. entrust this work to professionals.
With deterioration of air flow the saw should start, but it would work badly. Remove and wash air filter. Put it back in place only after it is completely dry.
If the saw starts well, idles and stops when you apply gas, the muffler is most likely clogged. Take it off, disassemble it, wash it, put it back on, and keep working.
You can also easily change saw chain and guide bar, carburetor, starter motor, oil pump, ignition, and clutch with your own hands.
And after watching this video you will be able to replace a broken starter rope:

Check regularly that the safety chain is working: brake and chain catcher. Remember that you have to clean the saw carefully if you have small chips. Not only can it clog technological holes in the oil pump and other places, but also interfere with the operation of the brake.
Owner’s Manual for Partner 350
In this manual you will find not only a detailed description of the chainsaw, but also the most important things to know about how to operate it. We want to draw your attention that this chainsaw can run on gasoline AI95 or AI92 with the addition of oil for two-stroke engines in a ratio of 1:50.
Partner 350 chainsaw: characteristics and features
Partner 350 chainsaw belongs to the class of household, or amateur manual gasoline saws. Amateur. does not mean “hobby club” of chainsaw enthusiasts, but refers to the power and capabilities of the machine. This saw is one of the best in its class and is ideal for short-duration work in the garden, in the countryside, etc.п.
You can use it to trim bushes, make brushwood for the barbecue and wood for repairs, cut down a small tree. All this is possible due to such technical parameters:
- Weight: 4.7kg
- Two-stroke engine power. 1.8 liters.с. (1300 W)
- Engine displacement: 34 cc.see.
- Electronic ignition system.
- Oil tank capacity: 0.2 l, fuel tank capacity: 0.4 l.
- Chain pitch: 3/8.
- Maximum chain length 41 cm, optimum: 35 cm.
- Primer for cold starts.
The Partner 350 chain saw‘s strengths lie in its compact size and ease of use. It has a built-in safety system: The double inertia brake automatically triggers as soon as an emergency situation arises. potentially dangerous for the saw operator.
Chain lubrication is also automatic. Fuel consumption is very economical and the air filter lasts longer thanks to the CCS system. It’s a wonder that the saw is so quiet at these high engine speeds. As an added bonus, the cylinder walls are treated with a special protective coating and the knobs are fitted with an anti-vibration system.
As for the disadvantages of the Partner 350 chain saw, the reviews on the forums speak most eloquently about them. It turns out that this model was first released in 2012, and then re-released in 2015. According to the documents, the updated model is more advanced. But in practice, the first series is more reliable and breaks down less often. over, this saw is not equipped with a shock absorber. this can be felt when working for extended periods of time. Rartpeg chainsaws are produced by the Swedish Husqvarna concern, which is well known to users of equipment for gardening, gardening and forestry. The plants for the production of “Partner” equipment are not only located in China, but also in the U.S., Italy, UK.
Despite this, the price of Prattner chain saws is relatively low. Spare parts are available, too. In Western countries, this brand is very popular due to the win-win combination of price and quality. But even Swedish quality sometimes fails.
Why the chainsaw cuts out under load
In some cases the chainsaw is unable to work normally under load and just shuts down. A common cause of this behavior is improper carburetor adjustment or air leakage through the crankshaft seals or carburetor gasket. This behavior may also be caused by a leaking carburetor.
To diagnose and remedy a chainsaw that starts up and shuts down under load, it’s best to have a service center diagnose the cause. к. Check the carburetor and crankcase for leaks with a special tool.
A saw that is unable to operate under load will also have difficulty holding idle speed. They will “float”. Diagnosis begins with a check of the carburetor and carburetor for leaks. If you find leakage through the crankshaft oil seals, they need to be replaced. If you find air drainage in carburetor you can eliminate the cause by installing a repair kit of gaskets.
Only after the above actions have failed and the engine carburettor crankcase is sealed, you can proceed to adjust the carburettor.
The reason for this algorithm is as follows, if the air suction from the crankcase is not eliminated, but simply the carburetor was adjusted to normal engine operation, then the fuel mixture will contain more fuel than it is required by a sealed crankcase, which in turn will significantly increase its consumption. It’s also likely that the engine will get sooty, which will also have a negative impact on the chainsaw’s future performance.
In some models of chainsaws, to ensure the operation of the fuel pump, special hoses are installed, which transmit the air pulse from the engine crankcase to the carburetor fuel pump. If this hose is frayed, the saw will work irregularly at idle and will not work at all under load.
Owners of household chainsaws Husqvarna 137 and Husqvarna 142 with any deviations from normal engine operation should first check the impulse hose, t. к. this is considered the most common cause of these chainsaws.
Stops when you press the gas
If your chain saw stops when you accelerate, you need to check the gasoline and air filters, as well as the fuel pump.
- The air filter becomes very clogged during operation and the tool stops working when the throttle is depressed. Filter is removed, cleaned or washed with warm water, thoroughly dried and only then reinstalled. Then disconnect the fuel hose screwed to the carburetor. It should have gasoline leaking out. Clean the hose or replace it with a new one if the fluid has not run out. The filter is fine and it doesn’t need to be checked if the gasoline is flowing properly.
- Chainsaw stalls. gasoline pump may be worn out. If there is gasoline leaking through the walls of the pump, then the unit has stalled because of it. Replace the part with another one.
In order to start your chainsaw, you must determine the exact cause of the malfunction, and then try to correct it yourself. If the problem is not found or it can not be eliminated independently, it is better to seek help from specialists.
Handwheel does not work
Handwheels are seldom broken on this saw. This is most often caused by overheating of the engine. In this case, the repair of the chainsaw “Partner 350” with their own hands should begin with the removal of the protective cover. After that, the first thing to do is to inspect the engine. In some cases the tire can burn out. If there are no dark spots on it, you can immediately twist the flywheel.
To make it easier to remove, the handwheel must first be disconnected. It is located directly above the flywheel. To do this, you will need a Phillips screwdriver. After that, the handwheel can be easily unscrewed from the panel. Look particularly carefully at the head. If it is deformed, the flywheel must be replaced. In this case, it is necessary to tell the store the exact diameter of the head.

Your Partner 350 with Troubleshooting. Troubleshooting
Your Partner 350 chain saw malfunctions mostly by improper use. Most troubleshooting calls for experience with power tools and knowledge of two-stroke engines.
But as practice shows, chainsaw repair with their own hands is possible even in the field. The main thing. before you repair, properly diagnose the cause of the breakdown, so as not to do unnecessary work and not to aggravate the situation.
New tool failures are most often related to the fuel system, but a saw that has been running for a long time with worn parts can make troubleshooting much more difficult.
That is why it is important to make adjustments and preventive maintenance in time, so that you do not have to make repairs yourself in unsuitable conditions
Why won’t it start
If the chainsaw does not start, then the main causes may be several, listed in order of frequency of occurrence:
- The lack of fuel in the gas tank;
- the stop switch is not in the operating position;
- The safety brake is jammed;
- the carburetor is clogged or out of adjustment;
- the ignition system is defective.
The first three causes of inoperability are common to inexperienced users, and the last two require immediate intervention.
Determining the ignition system malfunction is simple. It is necessary to unscrew the spark plug and, if it is outwardly serviceable, lean it with its threaded part against the metal surface of the tool, then pull the starter. If the spark is blinking, this is an indication that the ignition is working properly.
Fuel system malfunctions include:
- clogged carburetor jets;
- clogging of fuel filter;
- Fuel hoses are leaking;
- improper adjustment;
- loss of tightness in the crankcase (faulty crankshaft seals or crankcase gaskets).
If the saw starts and stops, you should first adjust the idle speed, because this adjustment is most often thrown off.
The engine shuts down when the throttle is pressed in these cases:
Chainsaw stalls under load. Mostly only for carburetor malfunctions. Under a light load, the saw may work fine, but it does not reach maximum power and shuts down.
How to regulate the chainsaw
Adjusting the carburetor with your own hands may be necessary during the operation of the saw and after repairing the fuel system. Adjusting the chainsaw carburetor is a responsible undertaking.
Incorrect adjustment of the carburetor at best will lead to increased fuel consumption, and at worst. to engine failure.
There are 3 screws on the carburetor to adjust it:
- T. idle speed adjustment;
- L is the fuel quantity screw for adjusting the power at low and medium revolutions;
- H. quality screw for adjusting the maximum rpm.
If you have repaired or cleaned your carburetor, adjust it using the following procedure:
- Tighten the quantity and quality screws fully and then loosen them 1/5 turn.
- Start the chainsaw and let it warm up for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Tighten the L quantity screw until the revolutions are maximum. From the position found, turn it back a quarter of a turn.
- Use the T screw to adjust the idle speed. You need to set it to a value where the engine runs steadily and without interruptions, and the saw chain does not rotate.
- Adjust maximum rpm on the tachometer with the H-quality screw. If there is no tachometer, adjust until the engine sound resembles the sound of a four-stroke motor. If the maximum rpm is exceeded, the piston/cylinder group can be damaged.
The ignition system, with the exception of spark plugs, rarely fails.
If the chain is not lubricated
Chain lubrication is important to reduce friction of the links in the guide bar grooves. An oil screw is provided for adjusting the lubrication system. The chain only gets greased while it is running. Check the oil pump operation by pointing the tire toe toward a light surface. There should be a splash of oil on the surface when you pull the throttle trigger.
How to make sure there is really no spark
To see if your chainsaw is sparking or not, follow a simple procedure:
- The top cover on the housing is removed.
- Remove the spark plug cover very carefully, gripping it as far down as possible so as not to tear the spark plug wire.
- Unscrew the spark plug counterclockwise using the enclosed 19 mm socket wrench.
- Put the cap back on the spark plug.
- The thread or nut on the spark plug is “shorted to ground”, that is, pressed against the metal cylinder head. To assure firm contact, the spark plug is held against the cylinder with electric pliers, an insulated screwdriver, or a hand with dielectric gloves. You shouldn’t do it with your bare hand. In case of a breakdown of the cap can get a painful hit of high-voltage discharge (up to 40 000 V at a weak current of up to 80 milliamps).
The chainsaw is placed on the ground, it is pressed to the ground with one foot and the starter cord is pulled slightly. At this time, you can see if there is a spark or not.
Problems related to malfunctioning of the fuel system
The tool stalls if the fuel line integrity is compromised or the fuel mixture ratio is incorrect. Especially often such tube defects occur when the tool has been in the room for a long time, where there have been sharp fluctuations in temperature. When filling up, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations regarding the gasoline to oil ratio exactly.
